BIOGRAPHY

Lewis Hamilton was born on January 7, 1985, in Stevenage, England. From a young age, he was passionate about racing and began karting when he was eight years old. His talent and determination were evident early on, and he quickly rose through the ranks of motorsport. Hamilton's breakthrough came in 2007 when he joined McLaren in Formula 1. He was the first Black driver in F1 and has since become one of the sport's most successful drivers. Hamilton's seven World Championships and numerous race wins have solidified his place as a legend in motorsport history.

 Use THERE WAS (no singular) ou THERE WERE (no plural) para dizer o que havia nos quartos de Tom e Ana antes de eles se mudarem, de acordo com os exemplos:

Simple Past - A Tale of Two Sydneys

1) Apresentar aos alunos a história "A Tale of Two Sydneys":

Last April two British teenagers wanted to go to Australia for their summer vacation. But it was a 24 hour trip by plane, and tickets were very expensive. So Raoul Sebastian and Emma Nunn, age 19, looked for cheap tickets on the Internet. They were lucky, and they booked two tickets to Sydney.

On August 4th, they arrived at Heathrow airport. They checked in and waited for the plane to leave. Six hours later they landed at a big airport and changed planes.

After only an hour the plane landed. They looked out the window. It was a very small airport. They walked to the information desk, and they showed their tickets to the woman.

“When is our next flight?” they asked.

She looked at the tickets. “The next flight? This is the end of your trip. Where did you want to go?”

“Where are we?” they asked.



2) Questionar onde os adolescentes da história estavam.


3) Identificar os verbos no passado e repeti-los com os alunos.


4) Mostrar o fim da história aos alunos:

Raoul and Emma were in Sydney, but not Sydney, Australia.

They were in Sydney, Nova Scotia, in northeastern Canada!

The story of Emma and Raoul was on television and in newspapers around the world. They stayed in Sydney, Nova Scotia, for four days. Then they traveled home on Air Canada to London, England (not London Canada).
